Millions witness rare total solar eclipse across Europe

Millions gathered across Iceland and northern Spain to witness a rare total solar eclipse, described as an “event of the century.” The August 12 spectacle was Europe’s first total solar eclipse in 27 years, drawing up to six million visitors to Spain and about 80,000 to Iceland. The Moon’s shadow briefly plunged parts of both countries into darkness.
