India crosses 100 grandmasters, most are under 20
India's 100th chess grandmaster was crowned this week: a 14-year-old from Nagpur who learned openings on a cracked phone screen during lockdown. Sixty of the hundred are under 20. Federations abroad now study the 'India pipeline', a mix of online blitz culture, academy density and unapologetic parental ambition.
